What is the ICPS?

ICPS is a conference for physics students, run by physics students. It is held once a year (usually in mid-August) in a different city as chosen by the International Association of Physics Students (IAPS) and lasts for one week.

The intention of the conference is to bring physics students from different parts of the world together and to provide a setting to exchange ideas and experiences.

The conference fee includes accommodation, breakfast, lunch and evening meals as well as participation in the academic and social activities and various conference excursions and tours. For 2012 we expect approximately 400 participants.

Activities include:

  • Student Lectures lasting 20 minutes (15 min talk + 5 min questions)
  • Poster Sessions
  • Guest Lectures
  • Excursions to places of scientific, cultural or historical interest
  • Guided tour of Utrecht
  • IAPS Annual General Meeting and workshops
  • Parties, including the welcome, farewell and nations parties. At the nations party, delegates are encouraged to share examples of their national food, drink and entertainment.

All proceedings are conducted in English. The atmosphere of ICPS is friendly and informal - there is no dress code.
